Michelle Meadows is an award-winning author of more than 20 books for children. Connection, compassion, and family are common themes in her work. She wrote her first book, The Way the Storm Stops, in the middle of the night after rocking her son to sleep during a thunderstorm.
Michelle writes fiction and nonfiction, and her publishers include HarperCollins, Marvel Press/Disney Publishing, Random House, Simon & Schuster, Scholastic, and Macmillan.
Her work includes several Dr. Seuss beginning readers and biographies about amazing people: Jimmy’s Rhythm and Blues: The Extraordinary Life of James Baldwin, Flying High: The Story of Gymnastics Champion Simone Biles, and Brave Ballerina: The Story of Janet Collins. Michelle contributed research and writing to Black Ballerinas: My Journey to Our Legacy by Misty Copeland.
Michelle is the author of Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur: One Girl Can Make a Difference, a middle-grade novel based on the animated Moon Girl Disney TV series, as well as beginning readers based on Disney Junior’s Ariel, the animated TV series inspired by The Little Mermaid.
With a passion for storytelling, Michelle graduated from Syracuse University with a dual degree in journalism and literature. She grew up in Washington D.C. and now lives near the beach in Delaware with her husband.
