Melissa Sarno is the author of acclaimed middle grade novels from Knopf BFYR Just Under the Clouds and A Swirl of Ocean.

Her novels have gone to auction in acquisitions, been featured on best-of lists, selected for Scholastic book clubs and fairs, and translated into other languages. 

A graduate of Cornell University, Melissa went on to receive an MFA in screenwriting from Boston University. For over fifteen years, she has worked in children's media, creating the content behind hundreds of interactive books, toys, and games for beloved brands like Dora the Explorer, Thomas and Friends, and Sesame Street. She is a Sustainable Arts Foundation Awards Finalist, a freelance editor, and a script writer for the award winning children's podcast A to Z Mysteries: Clue Club.

The only thing she loves more than writing books is reading them. She also loves to hike, run, bake cakes, and take photos. She is based in the lower Hudson Valley where she lives with her husband, two children, and a rescue dog named Sadie.
