Chris has been awarded three Gold and three Silver medals from the Society of Illustrators in New York.

His work has appeared in numerous Communication Arts Illustration Annuals. He created the cover art for Because of Winn-Dixie and The Tiger Rising, both by author Kate DiCamillo. His most recent books include What To Do With A Box by Jane Yolen (Creative Editions); Someone Like Me, by Patricia MacLachlan (Neal Porter/Roaring Brook); The Perfect Pillow by Eric Pinder (Hyperion); The Other Ducks, by Ellen Yeomans (Neal Porter/Roaring Brook) and What a Cold Needs, by Barbara Bottner (Neal Porter/Holiday House).
