Salwa Majoka

An Illustrator from Toronto, Canada, Salwa Majoka based her studies at OCAD University as an Adobe Creativity Scholarship Recipient.

She finds joy in visual storytelling and creating meaningful work with strong moods and messages. Salwa was always an avid artist from a young age but spent most of her life strongly pursuing her academic studies with art as a beloved and ever-developing hobby. She found herself constantly wanting to improve artistically and longed to see how that journey would progress - ultimately deciding to pursue art seriously just before entering post-secondary. Even now though, her academic interests in Biology and the natural world still tend to make themselves apparent in her illustrations.

Salwa has worked on past sequential work with her close friend and co-collaborating artist Christine Chung for some years now, contributing to award-winning work that has been recognized at Toronto Youth Shorts Film Festival and Adobe Aspire Awards among others. While Salwa wishes to tell her own visual narratives through her work, she hopes to continue telling stories with Christine as well. The two are currently (and excitedly) working towards an author-illustrated project together.
