Michelle Meadows

Michelle Meadows is the author of numerous books for young readers, and she loves writing stories that are fun to read aloud. Connection, compassion, and family are common themes in her work.

She wrote her first picture book, The Way the Storm Drops, in the middle of the night after rocking her son to sleep during a thunderstorm. Michelle’s books have received rave reviews from School Library Journal, Kirkus, Booklist, and the Washington Post.

Hibernation Station was a nominee for the South Carolina Picture Book Award and the New Hampshire Ladybug Picture Book Award. Brave Ballerina: The Story of Janet Collins received numerous honors, including Junior Library Guild Selection, Notable Social Studies Trade Books, New York Public Library Best Books for Kids, and Best Children’s Books of the Year, Bank Street College of Education.

Michelle graduated from Syracuse University with a dual degree in journalism and literature. She grew up in Washington, D.C. and now lives near the beach in Delaware with her family.
