Amber Alvarez

Amber Alvarez is an author, illustrator, and designer.

She grew up in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, La'ie Point, Oahu, where she spent her days reading (her mom was her elementary school librarian) and combing the beach for bits of shells and fodder for the imagination.

Her work is inspired by her childhood in Hawaii and her life in Brooklyn, where she received her BFA in film with an emphasis in animation from Pratt Institute. Before making books, she was an animator and designer for educational kids' programming at PBS Kids, Scholastic Entertainment, and BrainPOP.

Her debut author/illustrator picture book, FIRE PIG PENNY, is forthcoming from Feiwel & Friends (Fall 2025.)
