Tanya
Lee Stone was an editor for 13 years before becoming a full-time writer.
She has a degree in English from Oberlin College and holds a Master
in Education degree. She has published more than 80 books for young
readers, including nonfiction, biographies, and picture books. Her debut novel for teens, A Bad Boy Can Be Good for a Girl (Random House/Wendy Lamb) received starred reviews and was called "sure to be the new Forever," and "Vagina Monologues...for the teen crowd." It is an ALA Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers Book, a New York Public Library Book for the Teen Age, on the Texas Tayshas Reading List, Maryland's Great Books for Teens 2006, the Kentucky Bluegrass Award Master List for 2007-2008, and nominated for ALA's Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults. Forthcoming books include a YA biography, Up Close: Ella Fitzgerald (Viking), a picture book about Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Elizabeth Leads the Way (Henry Holt), and a middle-grade nonfiction title called Almost Astronauts (Candlewick). Stone is currently at work on her next novel. Most of her work focuses on strong girls and women. Other publication credits include VOYA and the New York Times.
