Susan Carlton’s first Young Adult novel, Lobsterland, will be published by Henry Holt in September 2007. Lobsterland follows sixteen-year-old Charlotte through one winter week as she applies to boarding schools far from the island she calls home—without telling her parents or siblings or the boy who may or may not be the love of her life.

A former writer for Elle, Self, Mademoiselle, and the like, Susan Carlton has spent her share of winters on the Maine coast. She currently lives in Massachusetts with her husband, two daughters, and not-so-standard poodle, and is at work on her second novel for Holt, Opposable Thumbs.
